Merrimack has a long and strong history of diving. The team has been turning out strong divers for decades, several of who have returned to coach the team later. In the 2005 renovation of the pool, we were careful to install a U.S. Diving certified dive well adjoining the main pool and two, high-quality competition springboards. We are in a competitive league and division, and we invite all kids to join, from 5 to 18. Diving meets are held on Sunday afternoons at Merrimack and other area pools, and practices are held every afternoon, with lots of individual attention and camaraderie. The Dive Team is part of the Montgomery County Dive League (MCDL www.mcdiving.org). Its mission is to promote the safety, fun, and learning of the sport of Springboard Diving through instructional practice and age-level competition. Coaches: Dive Team Reps: Merrimack especially needs more diving judges! Judges and referees must be certified every three years, but it never hurts to refresh at a clinic. It's unfair to expect your team reps to do it all. Please mark your calendars and attend one of the clinics. Volunteers must be certified. Volunteers will be asked to sign up during the registration process. Practices run between 4 and 6 p.m., Monday-Friday. All divers should plan to come as often as their schedules allow until school is closed for the summer. After that, practice will be held Tuesday through Friday. Younger, less experienced divers practice from 4 to 5 pm, other divers from 5 to 6:00 pm.
